Although, with the culture of FromSoftware games, it’s possible that not having a hide helmet option isn’t going to bother the player base. Defense is tied to the character rather than the armor itself, and having less absorption isn’t as penalizing as having less defense. The absorption stat isn’t the same as your defense. Taking off your helmet isn’t going to take off much of the absorption stat, but if you’re faced with a particularly difficult boss, it’s more than likely you’ll throw the helmet back on for the fight before removing it again. This probably isn’t the answer you want to hear, but it’s the only one Elden Ring provides. Otherwise, you can’t hide the helmet visually while still keeping the defense of the helmet on the character. If you really don’t want to see your head armor while playing, the only real option is to physically remove it. The short answer is, you can’t hide your headgear, not in the way you might expect. Instead, it’s just a way to see your character’s head and face. However, this option doesn’t hide your helmet during actual gameplay.
